Sharks '79' vs Stompers B '29'
Sharks started this match missing a couple of key players due to injury and personal matters including captain Butch Galea and jumper Cuban azzopardi.
The game started at a fast pace with stompers using their speed and quick passing to run in the first score within five minutes but sharks were keen to reply fast and a cooly taken interception by feles spiteri followed by a 50 meter run for what was the try of the match saw us level within minutes.
Ford at fly half was insistent on trying his usual kicking game but was totally ineffective due to the pace of the stompers backs every kick made was run back and stompers were making ground off them this caused the second try for stompers after a misplaced kick went to the full back and stompers ran it all the way back to score under the posts. with stompers taking the lead again spangol had to get the morale back into his team and soon after the scores were level with sharks starting to play some good forwards rugby it wasn't long before we took the lead. most of sharks best work for the match came from salvo aquilina and feles spiteri with guest player adrian hillman putting in a great performance as well. The second half was filled with trys from sharks and the stompers inside center was doing his best to keep them in the game with some good running and a couple of great scores. there were few incidents to note in the match apart from the full back from stompers throwing a punch at ford who repsonded verbally concluding in both players getting binned. god job to all the guys

In the first match of the mornings games Sharks took on Kavallieri, Kavallieri are as stated previously an improving side, and once again this match was a close contest.
Sharks took the game too Kavallieri in the first half and dominated them with the their possession and support play, it was not long before Alex Teoli-Dimech the scrum half went over to score a fine try, Miguel Tabone adding the extra 2 points from the conversion, HT 7 – 0.
After the restart Sharks again applied pressure on the hard working Kavallieri defence who committed 2 players to a tackle which aloud a pass out to the winger Jonathan Bonnici to run in from 40 meters untouched to score out wide, again Miguel converted through the posts from out wide.
The match however was not over by any means as Kavallieri came roaring back with some great off loading in the tackle and support play, which caught the Sharks defence out and aloud Sean Grech to go over for 2 very well worked tries, Chris Zahra only managed to convert 1, which left the game standing at 14 – 12 and indeed that’s how the game finished.
Kavallieri now played Alligators in a match that was 5 v 5 as Alligators were struggling for numbers through injuries and decided not to borrow players, which in Malta rugby is allowed.
Throughout the first 7 minutes of play, the match was well contested, and saw a try for either side being scored, the first was for Kavallieri Edward Cassar Torreggiani, converted by Chris Zahra and for Alligators Nicholas Vella scored a good try out on the wing which was not converted, HT 7 – 5.
In the second half the game really opened up with all the space available and 2 tries apiece were scored, for Kavallieri Thomas Aquilina and Sean Grech went over with Chris converting both attempts, Alligators tries came through Nigel Cutajar which were both also converted by Matthew Ward.
The difference at the end of this match was 2 conversions, which shows how important it is to add the extra conversion points, Kavallieri have now managed to beat Alligators for the first time FT 21 – 17.
In the last match of the day, Alligators now took on Sharks and this time borrowed 2 players to field a full side.
Sharks were determined to show Alligators and themselves that the last result in round six against Alligators was no fluke but at the same time Alligators were also determined to improve on their previous game. The game saw 3 players scoring their first tries of the season.
Right at the start of the match Sharks started strongly as a team and continued that all the way through the first half with sheer determination and guts that allowed Sharks winger Jonathan Bonnici in for a brace of tries and also Kenneth Mifsud the hard working captain who scored his first try of the season, all converted by Miguel Tabone. HT 0 -21.
In the second half Sharks never took their foot of the gas and treated the score as if it was still 0 – 0. Alex Teoli-Dimech scored a fine solo effort as he weaved round and through the Alligators defence, converted by Miguel, Nigel Mifsud playing his first game for Sharks scored a great try with his out and out pace on the wing, again converted by Miguel from out on the touch line.
Against the run of play and by far the best try of the day came from the great vision of Chris Zahra who made a twenty meter pass to allow his team mates time and space to attack from their own 22m line, with great support and offloading as the tackles came in Joe Rafferty scored under the posts for a great team try.
Sharks had the last say though as the scrum half Alex made a fine break and held up the play well as he waited for support from his team mates, Miguel received the pass at pace and side stepped his opponent who was left standing and raced in from 50 meters to score under the posts for his first try of the season. FT 5 – 40.
